Red velvet cake ㋡

I seriously have no idea why I want to bake suddenly.
Maybe because it’s chrismas hehee
Meet up with Aliah, bought some ingredients and weeee sushi!

The Ingredients

Red Velvet Cake:
2 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1/2 cup butter (room temperature)
1 1/2 cups normal sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 cup buttermilk (240ml)
2 tablespoons red coloring
1 teaspoon vinegar
1 teaspoon baking soda

Cream Cheese Frosting:
250 grams cream cheese (room temperature)
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 cup icing sugar
1/4 cup butter

First thing first, preheat oven to 180 degree Celsius.
Spread butter all over the pan, then placed parchment paper.

Sift the flour, sift the cocoa powder, and add in salt.

Mix them together!
Voilà~ Flour mixture

Pour 240ml of buttermilk into a measuring cup (everything must be exact!)
People say it will be nicer if you follow your heart but a dummy for baking like me hahahahah no.

Add in the red colouring!

Mix mix mix! the red is so pretty I likeeeeeeee
VoilàMilk mixture

Same for butter, put the butter into a measuring cup (but I don't know mine was exact or not as my butter was not totally at room temperature)

Beat the butter until its light!

Add in sugar (I thought I fail already as my sugar was super hard and can't mix well with the butter!)
What kind of sugar did my mum buyyyyyyyy

But (life goes on) just continue, add in vanilla essence (so they said must use pure vanilla extract but I can't find one as they have it with alcohol, Aliah said vanilla essence is the same so yeah!) and then put in the eggs (one at a time)

Mix mix mix beat beat beat ~~

Add in the flour mixture and milk mixture (the fun part!)
But I didn't pour them all together, I poured little by little, I divided them into three parts.
So it was like, flour.. milk.. flour.. milk.. flour.. milk.. flour!

TADAAAA it was so pretty man (no longer sad because of the hard sugar heheh)
There's this feeling that 'ugh my cake will be awesome pawsomeeeee!'

Transfer the 'red mixture' into a bowl.
Mix vinegar into the baking soda. QUICKLY
Pour the vinegar mixture into the 'red mixture', QUICKLY mix them altogether!

Pour the final product into the pan!
Bake it for 30 minutes.

For the Cream cheese, I didn't manage to take picture of my steps.
But I just mix them all one after another.
My mistake: Need to add more sugar!
As my cream cheese is not spreadable (but it taste good for a first timer) hehe
I didn't follow the actual recipe as apparently I didn't buy whip cream and mascarpone!
So you can say, it's like my own recipe.
Hence, the unspreadable! Hahahah but trust me, its really is nice.

I was shocked when I took my cake out from the oven, because it was brown in colour,
so I thought it burnt! (well, it did burnt A LIL BIT) hahah
But then, the cake ripped open and I can see the pretty red! <3

Wee I love decorating cakes.
Pretty heart shaped for le pretty boyfriend (made with love) hehe

And also, this is my third time baking obamaself!
First was cookie monster cake I baked for Farees which sadly the cake didn't lift.
Maybe lack of baking soda, idontknow.
I think I was stupid, I gave him cake when he was going to sail off which can't even last for 6 months HAHAHAH!

Second was my macarons which I failed terribly. Sigh, I will make macarons again soon.

I hope it will be better and doesn't look like shitttt. They said its okay to fail the first time as macarons are hard to make. I feel much betta after hearing that hahhah

Oh yes yes for this red velvet cake, I followed closely to this recipe:  http://www.joyofbaking.com/RedVelvetCake.html

Thank goodness hehehe my red velvet turned out better than I expected. (:
And and Farees mum said its nice. heheheheheheheheh
